Holistic Learning Pathways
How We Montessori?
Dr. Maria Montessori's research

Dr. Maria Montessori’s research revealed that the period from birth to age 3 is a critical stage of rapid brain development and immense learning potential. At Nido, we embrace this understanding and have meticulously designed a space that fosters optimal growth and harmony for your child. During this period, your child’s unique potential is nurtured allowing them to flourish.
The Nido, meaning “nest” in Italian, is a Montessori classroom designed for non-mobile infants. Our goal is to recreate a nurturing and familiar home-like environment while ensuring a safe and stimulating space for exploration.
Our Nido environment is thoughtfully designed with developmentally appropriate furniture and materials that attract and engage infants. We have nurturing adults who facilitate exploration and create a supportive atmosphere. Features such as bars, mirrors, floor beds/mats, and child-sized furniture provide comfort and promote independence. This environment nurtures trust, secure attachments, and self-esteem while fostering curiosity and self-discovery. It also encourages independence in activities like self-feeding and dressing, laying the foundation for future growth.

Fine Motor Skills

Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are essential for infants' development. At our nursery, we support these skills through "Manipulative." These activities involve grasping, reaching, and manipulating objects to help infants actively engage with their environment. By practicing these movements, infants build dexterity, control, and precision in their small muscle actions. These activities prepare them for future academic endeavors, foster independence, and boost confidence in everyday tasks.

Gross Motor Skills

Gross motor skills are essential for overall development as they involve using large muscles for activities like walking, running, jumping, and climbing. Through our program, we prioritize the development of these skills through activities that enhance physical coordination, balance, and motor skills. This fosters confidence, self-esteem, intelligence, and risk assessment abilities.

Social Skills

In our Montessori environment, we prioritize and nurture social development by promoting "Grace and Courtesy," social intelligence, and empathy. Through daily interactions, they develop respect, conflict resolution skills, and empathy, shaping well-rounded individuals with positive social behaviors.

Care of Person and Environment

In our environment, infants develop important skills through "Practical Life Activities" focused on toilet awareness, personal hygiene, and cooperative toileting. They also engage in gross motor activities that foster responsibility and community contribution. These activities promote language development, concentration, problem-solving, visual discrimination, physical coordination, and motor skills. Additionally, infants learn independence, cooperation, and respect for their environment.

Language

In our environment, we prioritize language development by providing a rich language environment and meaningful interactions. Children actively engage in various activities, attaching meaning to words, where the teacher plays a crucial role by offering vocabulary and engaging in conversations. In our curriculum, Arabic language and cultural exposure are introduced through interactive activities, songs, and storytelling, fostering a foundation for early language development and cultural understanding. This approach promotes vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills, fostering holistic language development.

In Montessori education, the infant community is an enriching environment and program designed for infants from 14 months to 35 months. It is a nurturing space that encourages exploration, independence, and sensorial development. Led by trained Montessori educators, this specialized program supports infants in developing their physical, cognitive, and social-emotional skills. The carefully designed environment and materials foster optimal growth during this critical stage of development, allowing infants to thrive and reach their full potential.

A typical day in the Infant Community:
Fine Motor Skills

Our infant community curriculum focuses on developing fine motor skills through carefully planned activities. These activities enhance eye-hand coordination, dexterity, and cognitive abilities, fostering a strong foundation for future academic and life skills. Our children are engaged in activities like stringing beads, sorting, puzzles, etc.

Gross Motor Skills

In our Montessori, we prioritize the development of gross motor skills. Through age-appropriate activities and materials, infants engage in exercises that enhance balance, coordination, and body control. Our trained educators provide guidance and support, fostering physical well-being and laying the groundwork for future physical development.

Social Skills

Through purposeful group activities and nurturing interactions, infants learn important concepts such as turn-taking, sharing, and respect. Our trained educators facilitate social engagement, fostering communication, problem-solving, and empathy. We create a supportive environment that sets a foundation for positive social development as infants grow and progress.

Language

Through storytelling, rhymes, and interactive conversations, we nurture infants' communication skills. Arabic language exposure is integrated into our curriculum through gentle storytelling, songs, and simple vocabulary, creating a nurturing environment that lays the foundation for later language acquisition. We introduce age-appropriate books, sensory materials, and language games to stimulate their senses and encourage early language acquisition. Picture cards are used to enhance vocabulary development and promote visual recognition skills in infants. Our curriculum creates a language-rich environment that fosters effective communication and a love for language an early age.

Care of Person, Care of Environment and Food Preparation

Our curriculum includes practical life exercises focused on care of person, care of environment, and food preparation. These activities promote independence, coordination, and responsibility in infants, while also instilling healthy habits and respect for oneself and the surroundings.

The Primary Programme is specifically designed for children aged 3 to 6 years, taking into account their absorbent minds. Dr. Maria Montessori believed in providing this age group with the “keys to the world,” offering a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of their environment. Our carefully crafted environment is scientifically designed to meet the developmental needs of these children, providing a nurturing and age-appropriate space for optimal growth and learning. Our Primary curriuclum prepare children for future academic success.

A typical day in the Casa:
Exercises of Practical Life

Practical life exercises are a crucial component of our Primary curriculum for children aged 3 to 6 years. Through tasks such as pouring, sweeping, food preparation, children focus on self-care, environmental responsibility, and social skills, fostering independence and confidence while developing essential life skills.

Sensorial Activities

In our curriculum we incorporate sensorial activities to engage children in hands-on exploration. Through manipulating materials of different textures, sizes, and colors, children develop sensory perception, discrimination, and cognitive skills. By engaging with sensorial materials such as the iconic pink tower, color tablets, and the binomial, trinomial cubes, etc. children refine their senses, enhance their observation skills, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Language

Our curriculum cultivates strong communication and literacy skills in children. Activities encompass phonics, reading, writing, speaking, and listening. We include Arabic language instruction, providing children with the opportunity to develop essential Arabic language skills through interactive and engaging activities. They explore letter sounds, sight words, and decoding strategies to build their reading abilities. Writing activities include letter formation, sentence construction, and creative writing, allowing children to express their thoughts and ideas. Speaking and listening activities encourage effective communication, vocabulary development, and active participation in conversations. This provides a solid foundation for strong language skills, critical thinking, and self-expression.

Maths

Our math curriculum nurtures a strong foundation in mathematics for children. Through hands-on activities, children explore numeracy, counting, addition, subtraction, geometry, and measurement. It emphasizes a multisensory approach, allowing children to manipulate objects, use visual aids, and engage in real-life applications of math. They cultivate critical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills in a supportive and engaging environment. By fostering a positive and interactive learning environment, we ensure that children develop a lifelong love for math.

Culture

In culture education, we engage children in exploring flags, maps, land and water forms, current affairs, etc. Through these activities, children develop an appreciation for cultural diversity, geographical awareness, and an understanding of the ever-changing world around them. Arabic culture is integrated into our curriculum, allowing children to explore and experience the rich heritage and traditions. Through various cultural activities children gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for Arabic culture.
